All Relevant Data in One Place

Fruit and vegetable consumption in countries across the world

About
Veg+ Data

Veg+ Data is a collaboration between the Juice Plus+ Science Institute (JPSI), Zeta Research SRL and the University of Padova in Italy. It provides information about fruit and vegetable consumption in countries across the world, bringing together data from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Australian National Health Survey, and the FAO/WHO Global Individual Food consumption data Tool (GIFT) into one convenient resource.

Fruit & Vegetables in the World

Veg+ Data compiles data about fruit and vegetable consumption in different countries across the globe into one convenient place. Click on the button below and simply enter a country into the search box to pull up country-specific data.

Consumption

This part of the project provides a global view of consumption patterns for fruits, vegetables, juices, starchy roots, and sugar plants, calculating nutrient intake from this data. It conveniently pairs this information with dietary reference values for different age groups, offering a valuable resource for assessing dietary alignment with global nutrition guidelines.

Availability

Availability data for 159 products encompassing fruits, vegetables, legumes, and starchy roots/tubers, extracted from the International Estimated Daily Intake (IEDI) database are included in this part of the project. The primary source of this data stems from the WHO Global Environment Monitoring System/Food Contamination Monitoring and Assessment Programme (GEMS/Food). This consolidated information serves as a valuable resource for assessing the availability of these essential food items.

Non-Communicable Diseases

This data collection compiles mortality data attributed to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) sourced from the World Bank’s diseases database.

Additionally, it includes prevalence data for obesity and diabetes, also obtained from the World Bank’s diseases database. These datasets serve as essential resources for understanding and addressing health- related challenges associated with these conditions.

Data by Country

You can search by country for information on the daily consumption and availability of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and tubers; the intake of various nutrients; the prevalence of obesity and diabetes; and the rates of death from non-communicable diseases.

Make a Comparison

Take a look on fruit & vegetable availability and prevalence of diseases.

Compare any two countries and see information about nutrients availability in a side-by-side format or in a chart view.

See detailed information about prevalence of non-communicable diseases and compare the data of two countries in a table format or have look on a map view.

Our mission

Veg+ Data is just one way that JPSI fulfils its mission to share information on plant-based nutrition and the health benefits of plant-based diets, by gathering information in one place and displaying them in a simple way.
